MY ROLE AT THE COMPANY
Nazara did not have an in-house game development team, and as a game publishing company, it constantly aims to produce as many games as possible within a short period of time. In order to achieve that Nazara relies on third-party game developers around the nation or world to produce games for the IP's that Nazara has rights to. This way the company can have several games are under development simultaneously.
When I joined, I was assigned the role of a video game designer-cum-producer which allowed me to be the part of multiple projects and responsibilities.
As a video game designer, my task at Nazara was to do a market research on Google Play Store and come up with the analysis of what game genres are popular in India and why? Based on that market research and analysis, I had to pitch game concepts for the IP's such as Motu Patlu, Virat Kohli, Hrithik Roshan and Super Bheem to the CEO.
Upon the game concept's approval, my role would change to a producer, whose task was to get in touch and convey the concept thoroughly to a 3rd party developer who will be developing the game. Oversee the game's development by making task lists and setting deadlines. Give constructive feedback on each prototype iteration as a video game designer to make sure that the vision of the game sticks to the proposed concept. And finally, the with the help of lead producers publish the game to Google Play Store within the promised time.
